Jenni’s Philosophy on healthy cooking: Healthy cooking is about learning simple cooking techniques to prepare food in healthy ways. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef or have elaborate, expensive cookware. Being healthy is not about becoming a vegetarian, banishing carbs from your diet, or never eating fat. It’s about making better choices when buying food and then again when preparing that food at home. In the Healthy Kitchen, we demonstrate great recipes that will help you try new foods and discover new flavors as well as give you healthy tips to apply to your own favorite meals. Most people associate healthy food with boring food, but they would be WRONG! I admit that if you try to eat healthy by just cutting out the fats and sugars you’ll find that you’ve also cut out the taste and usually won’t be doing it for long. But, healthy cooking can be an adventure. As you begin to understand how ingredients work in a recipe, it is easy to know the best way to substitute ingredients to make a recipe healthier. We'll show how to cook with herbs and spices, rather than fat or salt, to liven up your meals. I believe healthy food should taste good, too. And that’s what the Healthy Kitchen is all about—eating healthy AND eating well.
